About the Tampa Bay Rays

The moment you enter Tropicana Field you can feel the excitement that is Tampa Bay Rays baseball. It wasn’t always like that as the Rays first decade (founded in 1998) was marred by nine last place finishes, and one second-to-last place finish.

It all changed in 2008 when Tampa won the AL East and reached the World Series. Before the start of that season, the franchised dropped the “devil” from their name. The Rays went on to qualify for the playoffs three of the next five seasons.

The franchises’ most famous players include Wade Boggs, Evan Longoria, Carl Crawford, Carlos Pena, James Shields, and David Price.
