About Kinky Boots

Kinky Boots is about a man who inherits a shoe factory from his father. Then, to save the factory, he teams with a drag queen to make women’s shoes for men.
The music and lyrics were written by Cyndi Lauper. That’s right, the same singer who gave us “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “Time after Time.” She won a Tony Award for her work becoming the first woman to ever win Best Score all by herself.
The book was written by Harvey Fierstein and based on the British film of the same name which was released in 2005. The musical is running on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
