Browne has sold millions of albums, thousands of concert tickets, and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was one of main forces behind the California rock sound that ruled the 1970s.
Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1948. His father was an American serviceman.
Browne moved to the United States when he was three. After high school, he joined the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. Before making it big, he worked as a staff writer for Elektra Records.
Browne released his eponymous debut album in January of 1972. The album contained the songs “Doctor My Eyes” and “Rock Me on the Water.”
Other popular Browne songs include “The Pretender,” “Running on Empty,” “Lawyers in Love,” “Take It Easy,” “For a Rocker,” and “Somebody's Baby.”
